New Roman Missal (Cathedral of Christ The King) at 299 Colony Blvd, Lexington, KY 40502 US - Home

Your home for Information about the new English translation of the Roman Missal that will be used beginning on the First Sunday of Advent, 2011

Beginning on the First Sunday of Advent, 2011 the entire English-speaking Catholic Church (the Roman/Latin Rite) will begin using a new English tranlsation of the 3rd Edition of the Roman Missal.  This is the document which contains the approved prayers, rubrics and readings that we use at all of our Masses and other liturgies.

This site has been established to help our parish become familiar with the new translation, why it was done, and to assist everyone in being comfortable as we begin using the new texts at Mass.  The material here is organized in such a way you can quickly find the information and answers you need.

We hope the resources and materials here will help you gain a new appreciation for what the Mass is truly all about  and how these new texts will help us have a richer, more abundant experience of the Mass.

Vatican II called all Catholics to a full, active and conscious participation in the Mass.  This new translation of the Roman Missal gives us a golden opportunity  to do just that.  This is an exciting time for the Church and we hope this site will help you be prepared, comfortable and excited to experience the new Mass texts as we enter Advent 2011.

Make this a family and friends learning experience.  Create time to share these resources and discuss the new texts with a goal of gaining not only familiarity with them, but also a greater and deeper appreciation of the gift God has given us in the Mass.

The material here is organized as follows:
  • Click here to gain a fuller, more abundant understanding of the Mass itself.
  • Click here for background on the Roman Missal (What is it?)
  • Click here for explanations regarding the nature and reason for the upcoming changes.
  • Click here for the specific changes to the texts we will be using in Mass starting in Advent.
  • Click here for a schedule of general information sessions for the parish.
